In a recent appearance on Israeli TV station Reshet 13, Tobi Lovv, the first Nigerian female officer in the IDF and CEO of ShareLovv International, shared her groundbreaking journey and advocacy efforts.
Ms. Lovv highlighted her work building relations between Africa and Europe through her platform, ShareLovv International which focuses on faith-based diplomacy and outreach to African evangelicals in Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Ghana and other countries. She emphasized the strong support that sections of these countries have for Israel, stating, “Christian African evangelicals are very supportive of Israel. They are pro-Israel out of the love of the Bible. You need to make a connection between what is happening in the Bible, between their commitment and their love and support for what is happening today [in Israel].”
Ms. Lovv also addressed the significant challenges following the October 7 attacks, underscoring the necessity for Israel to increase efforts and investments in countering misinformation and improving its global image.
Noting that the aftermath of the October 7 response requires more dedication from Israel to present accurate information and foster a better understanding worldwide, Ms. Lovv noted, “The absolute majority of the media in Africa as a whole continent is pretty much controlled by Al Jazeeera. We need media outlets that will try to really get the truth out and get data as it is. But yes, this is a challenge. It’s not easy. It’s something I think we need to invest more in. It’s something we do in my organization ShareLovv International. We work to promote these relations between Africa and Israel.”
Ms. Lovv highlighted an organization that is doing the necessary in promoting relations with African communities on the continent and around the United Kingdom and that is Magen David Adom UK, a fundraising and advocacy committee of Israel’s national emergency service provider. Stating how their activities, which Ms. Lovv sits at the lead of as Head of Africa outreach for Magen David Adom UK, seeks to give Christian communities the outlet to support Israel in relevant and tangible ways.
Ms. Lovv ‘s unique position and tireless work with ShareLovv International exemplify the growing connections and mutual support between Israel and Africa, advocating for stronger ties and better communication between the regions.
